Business groups defend education standards from Tea Party assault The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Business Roundtable are going to bat for proposed set of bipartisan education standards that have come under attack by Tea Party groups in recent weeks. The Common Core State Standards are a set of proposed kindergarten-through-12th-grade reading and math standards released by the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers, with input from federal officials.
